What insurance benefits are provided by my NFHS
Spirit Association Membership?
Your membership in one of the NFHS’s Professional Associations

liability, accident medical and accidental death and dismemberment
insurance. These coverages are automatically provided to you as part
of your membership dues. There is no additional fee for this
insurance program.
Who is covered?
- All Spirit Coaches must be currently registered with
a member state association, or with an affiliate of the
NFHS (if that association registers Coaches), in order
to be eligible for the NFHS Spirit Association insurance
benefit.
- State and local Coaches’ associations that have 100%
membership in the NFHS Spirit Association are included
as additional insureds under the general liability
policy.

What Activities are Covered?
Members of the NFHS Spirit Association are covered for the
following activities under the insurance plan:
- The insurance applies only for losses or claims
resulting from the coaching or instructing activities
for school-approved cheerleader, pom-pom, or dance/drill
team practice, performance or competition. This
insurance does not cover the coaches for classroom
activities.
- In order for coverage to apply, the spirit group
must adhere to the NFHS Spirit safety guidelines; or to
rules which are at least as restrictive and which are in
compliance with the regulations of the State high School
Association (or, if within a US territory or possession,
by an NFHS Affiliate Association).
- Coverage is not limited to high school activities.
It can also apply to youth or recreational leagues and
college coaching; however, the spirit activities must
comply with the safety guidelines above.
- No coverage is provided for the coaching or managing
of any professional spirit group or activity.
- With regard to camps, clinics and tournaments,
coverage is provided to the coach only with respect to
his/her coaching or instructional duties. No coverage
applies to the organization, operation or sponsorship of
camps, clinics or competition; nor does coverage extend
to the participants of such events. For more information
on insuring camps, clinics and competitions, please
click on Camps, Clinics and Tournaments, or contact
Bollinger
What is the Coverage Territory?
The general liability and accident policies protect the
member coaches while in the United States, its territories
and possessions. Coverage also applies while coaching
temporarily outside the US.
When is the insurance Plan effective?
